Welcome to Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church. Our church is situated in Surrey Centre, a quiet
enclave in Cloverdale which was the historic heart of Surrey over a century ago. We are now a bit of a green
haven in a fast-growing neighbourhood surrounded by new homes.
I think that the best way to describe our community is genuine. In a fast-moving and shifting culture, there is a rootedness in our worship. We have stained glass, not acres of drywall, and find our faith strengthened in thoughtful preaching and in the mystery of weekly Communion which we still call by its ancient Greek name: Eucharist.
In many ways we are building one of the oldest and the newest Christian communities in Surrey. Our original
building, Christ Church is a lovely heritage church, built in 1882 and a very popular place for weddings. Our
contemporary building, Christ the Redeemer, where we worship Sundays, was built in 1990.
We have young familes, college students, the newly married joining us, along with grandparents, some of whose families have been part of this community for generations. You will find the guitar joining the organ for a contemporary chorus, a djemba drum on an African song, the choir singing medieval plainsong or even a jazz quartet for our Jazz Vespers or Eucharist.
We are striving to be a genuine community where we can be strengthened to find hope, faith and God in a culture that seeks to distract us, that "entertains us to death".
We hope you join us.
The Rev. Craig Vance,
Rector
